Best Odds Guaranteed Bookmakers

Updated: 25 September 2020

When it comes to betting on horse racing meetings in the United Kingdom and Ireland, it’s important to secure the best odds every time you make a selection. Naturally, we recommend that you shop around between the different bookies in order to get the biggest price although you should also make sure that your bookmaker has Best Odds Guaranteed available for your wagers.

Best Odds Guaranteed is also known as BoG and this is a brilliant horse racing concession where you can take an early price about a particular horse and know that you’ll either get paid out at these odds or the starting price depending on which one is bigger. With BoG bookmakers, you no longer have a dilemma over whether to take the current price available and wonder whether the odds will contract or drift as we get nearer to the off.

In this article, our aim is to showcase the Best Odds Guaranteed betting sites so that you can always take advantage of this promotion for UK and Irish race meetings. Each online bookie has a slightly different set of terms and conditions for BoG although some will actually apply Best Odds Guaranteed to race meeting further afield such as France, United States of America, Australia or South Africa.

The BoG betting sites will usually automatically give you the price about your horse when you place the bet and then, if the SP is bigger and your horse wins, you will see your winnings amended to reflect that the Best Odds Guaranteed promotion kicked in and you got that bigger price.

Best Odds Guaranteed Betting Sites

It really doesn’t make any sense to place horse racing bets with bookmakers who don’t have Best Odds Guaranteed available. There are lots of BoG bookmakers out there and it can be difficult enough to beat the bookies on horse racing without not being able to take advantage of a promotion which has now been available with some online bookmakers for over ten years.

You might notice that some bookmakers will apply Best Odds Guaranteed to any early price providing that this isn’t an antepost betting market, while some bookies might stipulate that BoG only applies to bets placed at a certain time such as midday on the day of the race. There can also be a difference between Board Prices and Early Prices, so make sure you’re always getting Best Odds Guaranteed with your bets.

Just because a large number of Best Odds Guaranteed bookmakers have this promotion available doesn’t mean that their odds are all exactly the same. While the Starting Price will be universal just before the off, you might find a big difference in the horse racing odds leading up to the off and we would recommend you hold a number of betting accounts so that you can take advantage of the best early price. Each-way backers might also benefit from extra places on certain races with a particular bookie.

What is Best Odds Guaranteed?

Best Odds Guaranteed is a generous horse racing betting promotion that has been available for over ten years. Previously to BoG being available, punters had to decide whether to take the Early Price or Board Price about a horse or alternatively select the Starting Price option. The problem was that the market is unpredictable and customers sometimes ended up taking 5/1 when their horse won at an SP of 10/1.

The introduction of Best Odds Guaranteed with selected bookmakers changed this situation for the better. It meant that customers could now take an Early Price or Board Price safe in the knowledge that if the horse’s odds drifted to the point where the Starting Price was bigger, then the bookie would pay out at this bigger price and the customer would be in line for a larger pay out.

Conversely, taking an Early Price and then seeing the horse’s odds shorten as we approach the off means that you’re sitting on the odds that you took, with many punters taking delight in hunting out the value before a concerted gamble takes place in the betting ring. This promotion has cost the bookies millions over the years and it’s a great way to try and gain an edge.

How BoG Works

Let’s picture Scenario 1 where you want to back Golden Square to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup. You go to your favourite bookmaker at 10am on the day of the race and back the horse at 10/1. That price is automatically added to your bet slip, although you have Best Odds Guaranteed so you know that you’ll get the Starting Price is bigger.

As the big race at the Cheltenham Festival approaches, Golden Square’s odds start to drift and the horse has a Starting Price of 16/1 when the race finally starts. Despite this price movement, you were right to back this runner as it wins the Gold Cup. Thanks to the BoG promotion, you get paid out at 16/1 instead of the 10/1 early price and it’s a massive bonus on top of your winnings.

Now let’s look at Scenario 2 where you bet on Dragon Fire to win the Grand National. You’re convinced that there will be lots of money for the horse leading up to the race, so you jump on the 20/1 on the morning of the National and hope to grab some value.

As it turns out, you were right to secure the 20/1 as the world and his wife jump on Dragon Fire and the horse shrinks to 8/1 before the off. The gamble lands and while plenty of punters end up getting paid out at 8/1, you get more than double the betting odds thanks to the 20/1 you had taken on the morning of the race.

You essentially get the best of both worlds when you take Best Odds Guaranteed. The great thing is that you don’t generally need to do much to land the BoG offer, it’s just a case of selecting the horse and stake before placing the bet. The majority of bookies will automatically apply Best Odds Guaranteed providing that the race is eligible for the promotion.

FAQ

What bookmakers offer best odds guaranteed?+
The majority of leading UK bookmakers currently offer Best Odds Guaranteed, although you should always check with your bookie before placing your racing bets. Sometimes, the promotion will get taken down for a short time, although you can go through our top 10 bookies in this article to find out exactly where you can secure the BoG promotion and grab yourself some value.
Why do bookmakers offer best odds guaranteed?+
Ultimately, a bookmaker wants customers to visit their betting site and having Best Odds Guaranteed is one way to appeal to punters. The bookies naturally don’t want to pay out at the bigger price out of the Early Price and the Starting Price, although they’re at a disadvantage if they don’t run with this offer and their competitors have this available. Therefore, it’s a way of keeping the customers having return visits.
Do bookies offer BoG for all betting markets?+
The bookmakers will generally have BoG for all UK and Irish horse racing meetings, although this tends to apply to bets places on the day of the race. Therefore, any antepost horse racing bets won’t be eligible for Best Odds Guaranteed. The same applies to Tote-related bets and any Price Boosts, although you can place win and each-way singles along with accumulator bets and qualify for the offer this way.
What do SP and EP stand for?+
SP stands for the Starting Price and these are the betting odds for a horse immediately before the race starts. The SP is what you will see in the latest horse racing results and this is a universal price rather than odds provided by a bookie. EP stands for early price and this is down to a bookmaker pricing up a horse race and deciding the odds for each runner. There can be large variance between the different operators.
What is an enhanced place bet?+
An enhanced place bet applies to each-way horse racing wagers. Sometimes, a bookmaker will offer extra places so that you can get 1/4 odds for the first four places rather than 1/4 odds for the first three places. The bookies tend to have enhanced place races for each-way punters on a daily basis and you can visit your favourite bookmakers to discover where you can take advantage of this promotion. You can also secure BoG as part of the deal.
