After brushes with bankruptcy in the 1980s and 90s, and a dispute between Musselburgh Joint Racing Committee and East Lothian Council, Musselburgh's future was secured in June 2020 when Chester Race Company took over operations. It added National Hunt meetings in 1987.
Musselburgh Racecourse Track Specifics
Musselburgh is a tight right-handed oval 10 furlongs (2000m) in length with two sharp bends counting against long-striding gallopers. There is a five-furlong (1000m) straight track with the start also used for two-mile (3200m) contests. The home straight is fast and almost level making it hard to win from off the pace.
