Will Adama Traore Leave Wolves This Summer?

Adama Traore has been looking really lively for Wolverhampton Wanderers in his first three matches, although the Spaniard continues to be linked to a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur. It will be interesting to see whether former boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes an approach for a wide attacking player who causes so many problems for the opposition defence.

Adama Traore has been tearing it up for Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent seasons and many thought that the Spanish winger was criminally underused at Euro 2020, with Nuno Espirito Santo having transformed the player during his time at Molineux. It now appears that the new Tottenham manager wants to bring the forward to White Hart Lane to continue their working relationship.

With the Portuguese having departed Wolves and Traore’s stock continuing to rise, it’s little wonder that there has been transfer speculation related to this exciting player. New Wolves boss Bruno Lage is clearly trying to play Traore in a different position this season although some public criticism might not have gone down too well.

In this article, we look at some of the clubs who could be in the running to capture Traore’s signature before the transfer window closes at the end of August, with some high-profile English Premier League clubs among his potential suitors.

Will Traore Be Reunited With Nuno at Tottenham?

It is Nuno Espirito Santo who is responsible for Traore’s football development at Wolves and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if the former was able to capture the winger this summer, although the Portuguese doesn't have the proceeds of a Harry Kane sale to spend. It would be a welcome boost to Tottenham fans to see the Spaniard arrive and provide a viable wide attacking option at the north London club.

Betting sites have Spurs among the favourites to sign Traore and perhaps he can link up well with the likes of Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura, with an end product improving all the time compared to his earlier days at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough where he only shone sporadically.

Liverpool’s New Style of Play Might Incorporate Traore

Liverpool are at something of an impasse after a tricky previous season where they battled to land a top four spot, with Jurgen Klopp suggesting that he would formulate a different strategy as far as the team is concerned. This might include recruiting personnel in wide positions and it’s viable that Traore could link up well with either Trent Alexander-Arnold or Andy Robertson.

Let’s not forget that the Merseyside club already raided Wolves when signing Diogo Jota and he was less of a star than Traore before arriving at Anfield. Therefore, it might not come as a shock if Klopp wants to add the raw pace and power that Traore provides when it comes to competing on a domestic and European front.

Leeds United Next in Betting to Capture Traore

Leeds haven’t gone particularly crazy in the transfer market thus far, with the Whites having made Jack Harrison a permanent member of their squad and they have also captured Junior Firpo, although they might have more irons in the fire and that could include Traore who is a native Spanish speaker like Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds had a strong first season back in the Premier League and there will be a desire to move forward and recruit the sort of players that can provide squad depth, with Traore potentially combining well with the likes of Harrison and Raphinha.

The Elland Road side were linked with Traore in January and fresh reports suggest Bielsa has reignited that interest and former Leeds United striker Tore Andre Flo is excited by the prospect of the 25-year-old turning out for Leeds.

“I rate him, definitely, I think he’s got some qualities that very few players have,” Flo told bookmakers.co.uk.

“I was expecting a few more clubs to be interested in him as well, but I think he can fit in at Leeds no problem.”

West Ham United Want to Keep Moving Forward

It was an excellent 2020-21 season for West Ham as they finished in sixth place above Arsenal and Tottenham, with David Moyes enjoying some kind of redemption and he will now want to push forward with the Hammers who will turn out in front of their own supporters and hope to improve on last season’s return of 65 points.

Signing a player like Traore would certainly feel like a move in the right direction, with the winger able to pick out forwards such as Michail Antonio with his intelligent runs and assists, although Wolves might be reluctant to sell the player to a club who are regarded as being of a similar stature in the Premier League.

Chelsea Might Want to Add Adama to the Ranks

Thomas Tuchel basically inherited his Chelsea squad without making any of his own signings although it might now be the case that the German wants to reshape the team and it could be that Traore is a player that interests him. After all, Timo Werner struggled in a wide position at times last term, while Callum Hudson-Odoi seemed to please and frustrate Tuchel in equal measures.

The bookies think the Blues could certainly be a contender to capture a player who might be attracted by the prospect of playing Champions League football, with the acceleration that Traore provides in a wide position proving to be a handful for any opposition defender and he’s clearly a viable asset to bring on as an energetic sub.

Could a Return to Barcelona Be On the Cards?

Traore began his football career with FC Barcelona and turned out for Barcelona B on 63 occasions and scored eight goals, although he only managed to appear for the first team on one occasion, with a move to Aston Villa then occurring and he has been in England ever since.

While Barca have financial constraints in place at the moment, it might be that they’re able to lure the winger back to the Nou Camp where they could make the Spanish international part of a squad who will look to compete hard in La Liga and the Champions League.
