2016 Queen Mother Champion Chase tips – 11/1 Special Tiara “very solid”

We’re counting down the days until the 2016 Cheltenham Festival, with betway one of the big sponsors at the meeting thanks to their excellent sponsorship of the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Betway are being typically aggressive with their odds for the Queen Mother, with the leading bookmaker happy to take on favourite Un De Sceaux despite the Willie Mullins horse likely to be a warm order as we fast approach race day.

Betway are going 8/11 about the Mullins hot pot, with the layers at this bookie fancying the chances of a couple of other horses in the race, although they’re happy to take a position about Sprinter Sacre at 5/1.

Spokesman Alan Alger told bookmakers.co.uk: “With Un De Sceaux, it's purely down to the 8/11 being about the right price.

"He looks the class act, but this will without doubt be the biggest test he's faced. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see how his jumping holds up. The Mullins raider's errors came directly after long layoffs though, so if being fresh was a reason for failing to complete on seasonal reappearance it's not something he'll have to contend with here.

"It's not necessarily that we're taking him on, but he's there to be backed. So at 8/11 we are happy to lay with a month to go. Sprinter Sacre is still yet to convince and having already been in one battle this year, we're not sure how much he'll fancy it again.

"Special Tiara is very solid, and seems to be going under the radar, whilst Dodging Bullets will be a different horse on better ground with a run behind him".

Special Tiara is an 11/1 chance and could reward each-way backers, with betway paying ¼ odds for the first three places. Similarly, Dodging Bullets is a 10/1 poke and the Paul Nicholls horse demonstrated last year that he can perform at Cheltenham.
