The Hornets succeeded in their aim of avoiding relegation at the end of the season with six points separating them from the bottom three, however things were looking far from certain towards the end of the campaign and a poor run of six back-to-back defeats will doubtless be of huge concern to both club and fans alike.
Walter Mazzarri departed at the end of the season and former Hull City boss Marco Silva will be in the hot-seat at the start of 2017/18. Despite the Tigers suffering relegation straight back to the Championship, they did show huge signs of improvement under Silva with wins over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, however this wasn't enough to keep them in the top-flight and he will now inherit a squad which won't be in the highest of spirits following their dismal end-of-season run.
Indeed with Troy Deeney looking set to leave Watford during the summer, the side will be seriously lacking firepower and this could prove extremely costly as the Vicarage Road outfit look to secure for themselves a fourth successive season in the Premier League.
The bookmakers are confident that Watford will be amongst the relegation battlers at the end of next season with William Hill going best odds of 7/4 that they make the drop, only Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion available at shorter odds.
