Aberdeen’s perfect start to the season came to an end last weekend when they dropped two points in their 2-2 draw with Heart of Midlothian at Murrayfield, this result allowing Celtic to once again climb to the top of the league table with goal-difference separating the two rivals. In all honesty we don’t envisage the Dons keeping pace with the Hoops as the season progresses although Derek McInnes’ men are firm favourites amongst the leading bookmakers to be ‘best of the rest’ when the season draws to a close next May.
The Dons have enjoyed a great start to the season and their goal-less draw at the national rugby stadium extended their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions. They will be pretty confident of bouncing back from their relative disappointment by putting to the sword a Kilmarnock side which are struggling near the foot of the table.
Killie have been having a torrid time of things over the past few weeks. They were dumped out of the League Cup thanks to a 5-0 mauling at Celtic Park last month and they have picked up a measly single point from their five Premiership outings, this coming courtesy of a 2-2 draw with Hamilton Academical at Rugby Park. This doesn’t exactly bode too well ahead of what promises to be an extremely tricky clash and we have little hesitation in backing a win for the home side.
Indeed given that Kilmarnock have found the net in just one of their last five outings, a clean sheet will almost certainly be the icing on the cake as the Dons extend their unbeaten run to seven games this weekend.
