Arsenal have had a very bad week, of that there can be no doubt whatsoever. Things started badly at the weekend with a 3-1 defeat at Anfield and things went from bad to worse with their midweek clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League seeing the Germans run riot by inflicting upon the Gunners yet another 5-1 thrashing.
The pressure upon manager Arsene Wenger will certainly be pretty immense and whilst there can be little doubt that the Frenchman will still be in the hot-seat for the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash with National League side Lincoln City, anything but a thorough win over the Imps would surely be the catalyst which results in Wenger finally leaving the Gunners after a period of some eleven years.
Arsenal are massive favourites at 1/12 to win this match and rightly so given that there exists a massive gulf in class between the sides. Nevertheless the Imps have already claimed a Premier League scalp in the form of Burnley in the fifth round of the competition and whilst the Clarets are hardly in the same calibre as Arsenal, it is clear that Lincoln won’t be going down without a fight.
Danny Cowley’s men have been made to work extremely hard for their place in the last eight of the world’s oldest football trophy with the Imps boss has steering his side to wins over Championship sides Ipswich Town and high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion in the earlier rounds of the tournament. We’re not saying that they’ll leave the Emirates Stadium with the spoils in the bag but we believe that they can grab themselves a consolation goal along the way. Perhaps Wenger can breathe easily for a while longer.
