Well here we are at the end of the season. Just one more game to go and all will be wrapped up, except the dreaded play-offs that is. Brighton & Hove Albion have no part to play in those however, the Seagulls wrapping things up a couple of weeks ago by winning promotion back to the top-flight for the first time in over thirty years. How they will fare in the Premier League remains to be the seen but the fans can nevertheless enjoy their moment in the sun for the time being.
Promotion is one thing but winning the title is another. Chris Hughton's men enjoy just a single point lead over Newcastle United with a game left to play and with the Seagulls losing both of their last two outings, another slip-up could mean that they finish their campaign as runners-up.
Clearly this would have little bearing upon their rise up to the top division but it would certainly spoil the party slightly. Nevertheless it remains a real possibility and one which Hughton will be anxious to avoid.
Can Brighton brush aside Aston Villa and finish the season with a bang? We believe that they can. The Seagulls have certainly slowed down since winning promotion, however they will be facing an Aston Villa side which, despite showing huge signs of improvement in recent months, have lost all-but-one of their last four Championship outings. Indeed the Villans have been pretty much a mixed bag in recent weeks and whilst we predict that they should be amongst the play-off contenders next season, they look set to sign off the current campaign with little more than a whimper.
Cue more celebrations in Brighton.
