Tim Sherwood has turned things around since his arrival at Villa Park and a win on Sunday afternoon would be the perfect result ahead of the big match the following weekend, especially since the villains were utterly humiliated to the tune of 6-1 by Southampton in their last outing.
Prior to that defeat, Sherwood had steered his side to some impressive wins. The West Midlands side clinched full points against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West ham in the Premier League as well as a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last month.
Such form would suggest that Burnley will be brushed aside with relative ease, given that the Clarets have managed just one win from their last eight outings. We're not so sure though. The Lancashire side haven't been giving goals away easily and have conceded no more than one goal in any of their last four defeats.
Villa will also be in low spirits following their humiliation at St Mary's last weekend and whilst we're not for a second anticipating that they will be hit for six by Burnley, we feel that the Clarets can manage a clean sheet against low-scoring Villa.
Indeed, we're not expecting many goals at all in this encounter. Burnley are the lowest scorers in the top flight this season and have found the back of the net just once in their last eight matches, this undoubtedly being their main weakness with their defence managing to keep out Stoke City and Tottenham in recent weeks as well as restricting Arsenal, Everton, Leicester City and West Ham to one apiece, therefore backing under 2.5 goals here would likely land a winning bet.
