It really has been an utterly dismal week for the West Midlands side with the drop to the second tier confirmed last weekend following their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford, however it could be the case that worse is to come.
We expect to see a few unhappy fans at Villa Park on Saturday, angered not just by the club's relegation but more due to how some of the players appear to have reacted to it.
Joleon Lescott made a rather ill-timed tweet, claiming that the side's relegation to the Championship was a "weight off our shoulders". Gabriel Agbonlahor then made headlines by being seen partying just hours after his side's defeat to the Red Devils had condemned them to life outside the Premier League. Not something which exactly endeared them to the long suffering supporters.
Can we expect them to get anything from the visit of Southampton this weekend then? Indeed we can't and the Saints are firm favourites at 4/7 with William Hill to claim the three points at Villa Park. Indeed, goal-shy Villa have managed to score just twice in their last eight outings while conceding seventeen in that time. As such, we'll be siding with Southampton to keep a clean sheet in the West Midlands.
