Argentina look to be very much back on track following a dismal run of form in which they went four games without a win with defeats to Paraguay and Brazil as well as draws with Venezuela and Peru. They stopped the rot by thrashing Colombia 3-0 in November and they enjoyed a successful start to the year with a 1-0 victory over neighbours Chile, Lionel Messi scoring from the penalty spot to earn the vital three points which lifted them to third in the qualifying group.
Argentina now face Bolivia and in all honesty it would take nothing short of a miracle for the Bolivians to make it to Russia next year after managing just seven points from their thirteen outings. They managed a win over Paraguay in November however and will be confident of causing the visiting Argentinians no end of problems.
They may well manage that but we don’t believe that they will come out on top by any means. Argentina have won their last four meetings with Bolivia with seventeen goals scored and none conceded and the visitors should run out relatively comfortable victors on Tuesday evening.
Lionel Messi is the obvious name on the goalscoring front with no less than 40 goals to his name for Barcelona this season so far. He has scored eight times for Argentina in his last nine matches and we expect him to deliver in Bolivia on Tuesday in what looks set to be a relatively easy Argentina victory.
