Bolton Wanderers finished 2015/16 rock-bottom of the Championship table, however they’re looking well placed to make an immediate return back to the second tier of English football following what has been an excellent season to date.
Phil Parkinson’s men have stumbled slightly of late with defeats to Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United, however their form at the Macron Stadium has been impressive with just two home defeats since early October. Nevertheless they sit just three points adrift of the automatic promotion places heading into tonight’s round of Championship fixtures and a win tonight could lift them level on points with second-placed Scunthorpe United.
Visiting Bristol Rovers have been somewhat inconsistent this season so far, however they have been draw specialists over the past few weeks with their last five League One games ending in stalemate. Their performances on the road have left a lot to be desired however with no wins in their last ten away games and given their recent inability to grind out victories, we see no reason to believe that they can collect a maximum points haul in the north-west tonight and as such we’ll be siding with the home side.
Phil Parkinson will be desperate to steer his side back into the Championship and another three points at the Macron Stadium tonight will be another step towards that goal.
