Looking at the recent form of both these sides, one could be forgiven for thinking that it was Brentford who enjoyed pole position in the Championship, however Brighton & Hove Albion still hold onto top spot despite some disappointing results of late.
A second string Seagulls side went down 3-1 to National League outfit Lincoln City in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend and Chris Hughton's men lost by the same scoreline in their last Championship outing at promotion-chasing Huddersfield Town. Indeed the south coast side have suffered defeat in two of their last four league outings and we believe that this poor form will continue at Griffin Park this weekend.
The Bees have been slowly lifting themselves up the Championship table and will have been boosted by their 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Griffin Park on Tuesday evening. This result lifted Dean Smith's side up to thirteenth in the league table and whilst the west Londoners don't look much of a threat to the sides in the top-six, going on current form they could certainly make inroads towards the play-off places in the near future. Brentford have managed fourteen points from their last nine games and whilst this may not be blistering form, it is clear that the Bees are moving in the right direction. Their home form makes even better reading and with just one defeat in their last six games at Griffin Park, we believe that they can collect all three points at the expense of a Brighton & Hove Albion side which appear to have lost their way somewhat of late.
Griffin Park is famous for having a pub near each corner of the ground and this may be scant consolation for the travelling Seagulls fans as they seek somewhere to drown their sorrows on Sunday afternoon.
