Brighton supporters will be in seventh heaven following a tremendous season which looks set to culminate in a Championship title. The Seagulls secured promotion back to the Premier League after an absence of 34 years with games to spare and should Newcastle United fail to win in Cardiff on Friday evening then the title will be heading to the Falmer Stadium.
We're of the opinion that the Magpies will collect all three points in South Wales however and it will therefore be up to the Seagulls to do the business when they face Bristol City on Saturday evening. Three points for the hosts and the Championship title belongs to Brighton, however draw or lose and it will go to the wire. No pressure then.
Chris Hughton is the man to thank for Brighton's dominance of this season's Championship, the Brighton boss steering his charges to some excellent results throughout the season. There have been a few slip-ups along the way, however that has done little to slow down what has been a thoroughly impressive charge into the top-flight. How Brighton fare in the Premier League remains to be seen but the fans will nevertheless be basking in that warm glow of promotion for the time being.
With just two games left to play, the Seagulls will be wanting to finish the campaign with a bang and we don't envisage them experiencing too many problems against a Bristol City side which have been fighting off the spectre of relegation for much of the season. The Robins are now safe from the drop having enjoyed a late surge and with just two points dropped from their last four Championship games they are certain to pose plenty of problems for a Seagulls rearguard which have leaked goals in all-but-two of their last seven games.
That said, whilst the Robins look likely to find a way through the home defence on Saturday, the Seagulls will be in no mood to let anyone spoil their party and a home win looks the order of the day as the home side bounce back from their disappointment at Carrow Road by running in with the Championship title in the bag.
