Promotion to the Premier League is now well within Brighton & Hove Albion’s grasp and they can secure it today should they manage to beat Wigan Athletic at the Falmer Stadium and Huddersfield Town do their part by failing to collect the three points in their match against Derby County.
The Championship leaders sit four points clear of Newcastle United with just four games remaining and whilst the Seagulls can’t be certain of lifting the title at this stage of proceedings, three points this afternoon would certainly do much to steer them towards this goal.
Chris Hughton’s men have triumphed in their last four Championship outings with maximum points secured against Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Can they get the better of Wigan Athletic this afternoon in front of an expectant home support?
We firmly believe that they can. The Latics may have managed much-needed wins in their last two outings but they remain firmly entrenched in the relegation zone some five points from safety. They are very weak at the back and we expect Brighton to take full advantage of this when the sides meet at the Falmer Stadium today.
All-in-all the Seagulls will almost certainly dominate from the outset in this clash and we’re anticipating a huge performance from what are effectively the Champions Elect with a comfortable win-to-nil.
Also expect a party atmosphere!
