Slaviša Jokanović has lifted his Fulham side to within reach of the Championship play-offs with just six points separating the Cottagers from the top six, however whilst this may be a surmountable gap, they won’t be narrowing it this weekend when they make the journey to South Wales.
Fulham’s inconsistency this season has cost them dearly. Whilst they have roundly thrashed some of the best Championship sides this season – namely Huddersfield Town (5-0), Barnsley (4-2) and Reading (5-0) – they have stumbled against some of the sides in the lower half of the table such as Aston Villa, QPR and Burton Albion. Jokanović’s men clearly need to start stringing a few wins together and whilst they head into this weekend’s clash on the back of a decent three-game winning run, one feels that this will come to an end in Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.
The Bluebirds also head into this clash with a three-match winning run under their belts. A 5-0 thrashing of relegation-bound Rotherham United last weekend was no huge surprise in itself but it came on that back of thoroughly impressive wins at Leeds United and Derby County, therefore one feels that visitors Fulham will be faced with a few problems on Saturday.
In reality, this match is pretty close to call. Fulham have been inconsistent both at home and away whilst Cardiff have also been a mixed bag, especially on home soil. Nevertheless Neil Warnock’s men appear to have found a purple patch of late and we predict that this will continue with the visit of Fulham this weekend.
