Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United have secured for themselves the automatic promotion places but the race for the Championship title remains alive, as does the fight for the play-off places. Can Leeds United bounce back from their recent disappointments and lift themselves back into the top six or will Fulham cement their play-off place by collecting all three points on Saturday afternoon?

Here’s what we think…

Friday 28th April

Cardiff City v Newcastle United match preview and betting tips

The Magpies have clinched promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, however don’t expect them to take their feet off the gas when they make the journey to South Wales to go head-to-head with Cardiff City this weekend.

Saturday 29th April

Barnsley v Burton Albion match preview and betting tips

Burton Albion have effectively secured for themselves another stay in the Championship and we believe that they can continue in winning ways on Saturday afternoon by collecting all three points at Barnsley this weekend.

Birmingham City v Huddersfield Town match preview and betting tips

Birmingham City were sitting just outside the play-offs earlier this season. Then they got rid of Gary Rowett and they sank like a stone. Are these two facts connected? We suspect that they might be. Will the Blues bounce back from recent disappointments with a win this weekend? We suspect that they won’t!

Blackburn Rovers v Aston Villa match preview and betting tips

Aston Villa were looking possible relegation candidates just a couple of months ago however some excellent results have lifted them into a comfortable mid-table position. They were never going to threaten the play-off places but they can grab themselves another morale-boosting win in their penultimate game of the season.

Derby County v Wolverhampton Wanderers match preview and betting tips

Derby County usually hover around the play-off places at this stage of recent seasons but they appeared to give up hope some weeks back and we don’t believe that they will have much fight left in them when they welcome Wolves to Pride Park on Saturday afternoon.

Fulham v Brentford match preview and betting tips

Fulham have been enjoying some excellent form in recent weeks and deservedly surged into the play-offs at the expense of Leeds United. Will they give up their top-six position without a fight? Not on your nelly!

Ipswich Town v Sheffield Wednesday match preview and betting tips

Sheffield Wednesday are pretty well placed in the play-offs and will be hopeful of going one better than last season when they suffered the agony of losing the play-off final against Hull City. A win this weekend looks a mere formality against an Ipswich Town outfit which lost to a woeful Rotherham United last weekend.

Leeds United v Norwich City match preview and betting tips

Leeds United dropped out of the play-off places last weekend and deservedly so in our opinion. The Whites have hit a rough patch of late and one can only wonder whether they actually have the stomach to fight for a place in the top six. The answer will come our way this weekend and we believe that it will be an emphatic ‘No’.

Preston North End v Rotherham United match preview and betting tips

Preston North End were never realistically expected to be fighting for promotion at this stage of the campaign and they have proven their doubters right in this regard, however a win over the Millers looks a nailed-on result on Saturday afternoon. Expect an away goal at Deepdale though!

Queens Park Rangers v Nottingham Forest match preview and betting tips

Nottingham Forest aren’t completely safe from the spectre of relegation although they helped their cause no end by collecting all three points against Reading last weekend. Two on the bounce would do nicely thank you very much.

Reading v Wigan Athletic match preview and betting tips

Reading’s hopes of catching Newcastle United were dashed last weekend when they lost at the City Ground, however we don’t anticipate them having too many problems finding a way past a Wigan Athletic outfit which look increasingly doomed to the drop at the end of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Bristol City match preview and betting tips

Brighton & Hove Albion have clinched promotion to the Premier League, however they haven’t yet won the Championship title. They can put this concern well and truly to bed on Saturday evening by grabbing a maximum points haul at home to Bristol City.
