Chile will be confident of success when they play host to struggling Paraguay in Thursday evening's World Cup qualifier and it should on paper be a relatively routine three points for the home side and a chance to further secure their place in the top four in the qualifying group.
La Roja enjoyed an excellent Confederations Cup campaign during the summer and whilst they ultimately lost 1-0 to reigning world champions Germany in the final of the competition, they will be brimming with confidence having made it into the final in the first place. They thrashed Venezuela to the tune of 3-0 in their last qualifying match in March and given that they have remained consistent in recent months, we have no reason to believe that Pizzi's side will slip-up in their next outing.
For their part, Paraguay haven't been enjoying anything approaching good form in recent months and they head into this clash on the back of a four-game losing run. They caused a shock earlier in their qualifying campaign by beating Argentina 1-0 away from home but since then their form on the road has been pretty dismal with defeats in all-but-one of their last nine away matches.
They have also been struggling to find the back of the net with a failure to score in all-but-one of their previous five games on the road and we should see this unfortunate trend continue in Chile on Thursday evening. The hosts have been rock solid defensively and we don't envisage Paraguay adding to their goal-tally with a Chile win-to-nil looking the value at 5/4 with BetVictor.
