Damian Lewis favourite to be next James Bond

With five months to go before the release of Bond movie Spectre, speculation is mounting as to who will replace want-away 007 actor Daniel Craig

Damian Lewis favourite to be next James Bond

Will Spectre be the last time we see Daniel Craig as 007? Rumour has it that the actor is intending this movie to be his last as James Bond and during the last few days there has been a huge backing for Homeland star Damian Lewis to become the next actor to play the secret agent in the successful franchise.

Ladbrokes has reported a big gamble on Lewis replacing Craig, the leading bookmaker going just 2/1 that the Homeland and Band Of Brothers star is the next to portray Bond, the actor being an outsider on Friday at 20/1.

Former favourite Idris Elba, who had been tipped to become the first black Bond, is now in second position at 5/2. Tom Hardy is close behind at 3/1.

Ladbrokes' spokesperson Jessica Bridge told Bookmakers.co.uk:

“The gamble on Lewis has developed out of nowhere and with such serious pace we've been forced to cut his odds all the way down into favouritism.”
