It is a case of 'saving the best for last, when it comes to Scottish League Cup Group C with Dundee FC lined-up against arch-rivals Dundee United on Sunday. The Tangerines head into this final group game having risen to the top of the group courtesy of a perfect record so far in the competition, however their neighbours have also enjoyed three wins from three and as such whoever triumphs at Dens Park will finish in pole position and move automatically into the knockout stage.
United and FC have recorded similar results thus far in the tournament and with the Dark Blues scoring seven and the Tangerines banging in nine with one conceded apiece, this match is pretty difficult to predict. Indeed their records in the group stages are extremely similar with both sides winning-to-nil against Buckie Thistle, both beating Cowdenbeath by three clear goals and each side putting two past Raith Rovers.
Nevertheless with Dundee United losing out on promotion at the close of last season and Dundee FC enjoying something of an upturn in fortunes following the appointment of boss Neil McCann, we'll be siding with the Dark Blues on this occasion. Their spirits will be pretty high and they have found an excellent addition to their strike force in the form of Sofien Soussa, therefore we believe that they will have the edge in this Tayside derby match.
Dundee are unlikely to be challenging for many trophies over the coming season but they will be looking to enjoy a decent cup run and a win on Sunday afternoon will set them up nicely for that.
