Hibernian have slipped up in the Championship play-offs in each the past two seasons, however they look to have made a better job of things in 2016/17 and with the Hibees enjoying a ten-point lead over the rest of the chasing pack, it would take a massive collapse in form were they not to climb up to the Premiership after an absence of three seasons.
Neil Lennon’s men have occupied top spot for much of the season thanks to an excellent campaign. They have slipped up a few times but it was pretty clear from the start that they were going to be amongst the main contenders for the automatic promotion place towards the business end of the season. This has proven to be the case and we believe that Hibs can take a further step towards the top-flight by collecting all three points in Dunfermline this weekend.
For their part, Dunfermline Athletic have been quietly plodding along in the bottom half of the Championship table and had a brief flirtation with the relegation zone, however some decent results have helped them open up a four-point gap between themselves and second-bottom side Ayr United. This isn’t an insurmountable gap however and the East End Park outfit need to get a few more points on the board before they can start to breathe a little easier.
These won’t be forthcoming on Saturday afternoon however. Hibs are moving ever closer to the Championship title and they won’t be letting the likes of Dunfermline stand in their way. Lennon’s men suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat to struggling St Mirren earlier this month but their response was emphatic with wins over Ayr United, Dundee United and Falkirk as well as draws with Dumbarton and Greenock Morton. This bodes well ahead of this weekend’s clash and we have little hesitation in backing Hibernian to win at odds of 17/20 with BetVictor.
