It’s not been easy watching England at this World Cup, although the Three Lions are still standing and there are just eight teams left in the competition.
Gareth Southgate’s team now clash with Sweden for a place in the semi-finals, with the bookmakers having them as strong favourites although that was the case against Colombia and we know what happened there.
It’s clear that England have issues when it comes to creating scoring chances from open play, with Harry Kane’s goals largely coming from set plays and the team are probably short of a creator.
Sweden will be confident of nullifying their opponents just as they have done against Mexico, Switzerland and South Korea, while they should have got something from the clash against Germany.
Emil Forsberg is the man who makes the Scandinavian side tick, with Ola Toivonen and Marcus Berg looking to take chances as the attacking players, while Victor Lindelof and Andreas Granqvist make a solid central defensive pairing.
The Swedes will be happy to prey on England nerves and try and and sneak a winner as they did with their deflected effort against Switzerland.
Is football coming home? The jury are out but we might see extra-time on Saturday.
