Queen of the South have been flirting with the play-off places for much of the season and they launched their campaign in excellent fashion by storming to the top of the table, however things have fallen pretty flat since then and some dismal results have effectively ended any dreams that the Doonhamers had of making it to the top flight.
Indeed some nine points exist between the Dumfries outfit and the top three in the Championship table and whilst this in itself is my no means insurmountable, it is unlikely that it will be bridged given Queens’ recent inconsistent form.
Gary Naysmith’s men have managed just a single point from their last four Championship outings and this dreadful statistic suggests that they won’t manage anything from their trip to Kirkcaldy on Saturday afternoon. These two sides last met at Palmerston Park just four weeks ago with the home side running out 2-1 winners, however Queens are less than impressive away from home and they cannot be backed with any confidence whatsoever in this clash.
Raith Rovers are also far from impressive and they languish in the bottom half of the Championship table some three points behind this weekends’ opponents although they are currently enjoying some decent home form with back-to-back wins at Starks Park against St Mirren and Dundee United. Can they make it three on the bounce in front of their own fans by putting Queen of the South to the sword on Saturday? We believe so and at odds of 9/4 with Bet365 there is clearly money to be made on backing a Raith victory.
