Greenock Morton finished mid-table last season with 43 points to their name, however with seven games left to play they have already exceeded that total by some five points and they will be confident of adding to that when they welcome Dunfermline to Cappielow this weekend.
Greenock Morton’s ground is a pretty antiquated affair but what it lacks in top-class facilities it certainly makes up for in atmosphere. This season’s crowds have been fed on a diet of success by and large and with the side sitting securely in the play-off places, there is a newly-found belief that Morton could once again grace the top-flight after an absence of nearly thirty years.
The ‘Ton’ have lost just once in their last twelve Championship outings, this being a 3-0 defeat at Queen of the South’s Palmerston Park early last month. At Cappielow they remain unbeaten in the league this season and such a statistic is very hard to ignore. Dunfermline for their part have been rather hit-and-miss throughout the campaign and this is reflected in their position in the middle of the Championship table. Indeed the East End Park outfit have managed just a solitary win in their last nine outings in all competitions and as such we have little hesitation in going with the hosts on this occasion, Coral going a very backable 6/4 on a Greenock Morton victory on Saturday afternoon.
