Hibernian ended a wait of 114 years to get their hands on the Scottish Cup at the expense of Rangers last year thanks to an added-time header from David Gray, and the side now find themselves just a single match away from a second consecutive appearance in the final and a possible Scottish Cup/Championship double. They will certainly be relieved to have avoided Celtic at this stage of proceedings although Aberdeen will be no easy task that’s for sure.
The Dons look pretty assured of becoming ‘Best of the rest’ in the Scottish Premiership, therefore their principal aim for the rest of the campaign will be to grab themselves some silverware as they look to put behind them their poor showing against Celtic in the Scottish League Cup earlier in the season. Nevertheless they won’t be taking their lower-league opponents lightly.
Hibs head into this clash in high spirits with promotion back to the Premiership ensured, however there is no way we can overlook a Dons outfit which have demonstrated, with the exception of their 3-0 defeat to Rangers, that they are the second best side in the country. We expect Aberdeen to secure their place in the final and we’ll be backing them to finish the job within ninety minutes.
We also envisage them managing a clean sheet on their way to victory. Hibs have been scoring pretty prolifically this season, albeit at a lower level, however Aberdeen have been tight at the back throughout the campaign with six clean sheets in their last nine outings. They haven’t conceded in this competition as yet and we expect this excellent record to remain intact at the final whistle on Saturday.
