David Wagner certainly made plenty of changes when his Terriers side made the journey to St Andrews last weekend. Ten regulars were dropped in the clash with Birmingham City and Harry Redknapp’s men took full advantage of this by collecting a maximum points haul courtesy of a 2-0 win.
Wagner’s side are assured of a play-off place as we head into the final game of the regular season and they will be confident of finishing on a high following recent disappointments. Indeed only a few short weeks ago the Terriers were the in-form side in the second-tier although they have slumped somewhat in recent outings. Defeats to the likes of Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Birmingham City don’t bode well ahead of what will certainly be some tough play-off encounters and the West Yorkshire outfit really do need to bounce back from these disappointments with a win on Saturday.
Will they manage it? We believe that they will. Cardiff City never really threatened to make any headway towards the play-off positions this season and they always looked pretty content just to plod along in the middle of the Championship table. They got their wish. Always safe of relegation and far from the top-six, the Bluebirds didn’t show too much fighting spirit although they have managed a couple of decent wins in recent weeks.
Nevertheless they are hard to back with any confidence, especially away from home, and we have little hesitation in going for the Terriers on this occasion. Indeed with Cardiff scoring just a solitary goal in their last four matches, we’ll be backing Huddersfield to keep a clean sheet as they look to end the regular season on a high note.
