Hull City threw themselves a huge lifeline in their battle against the drop when they grabbed a much-needed 1-0 win over promotion-chasing Sheffield United on Friday evening, Nouha Dicko's seventh goal of the season enough to separate the sides in what was a pretty lacklustre performance from both sides. Nevertheless it was enough to ease the Tigers' relegation worries and while Nigel Adkins' men remain dangerously close to the bottom three as we approach the business end of the campaign, the victory will have restored some confidence in the side.
Next up for Hull City are relegation strugglers Barnsley and they too managed a morale-boosting win at the weekend when they came home from Birmingham City with the three points in the bag following a 2-0 victory at St Andrews. This was their first away win since the victory at Sunderland on New Years' Day and as such, spirits will be pretty high ahead of Tuesday evening's encounter with the Tigers.
Hull may be struggling in the lower reaches of the Championship, however they have been pretty solid in front of their home fans with no defeats at the KCOM Stadium since November. Since then they have won three and drawn four of their last seven home games and we expect the hosts to edge their way past the Tykes on Tuesday evening and further boost their chances of survival in the second-tier.
It won't be a one-sided affair by any means and we envisage the visitors adding to the scoreline at some point, however Adkins' men will collect the three points and steal a march on the sides above them in the Championship table.
