Monaco are renowned for fighting their way back from behind in this competition but they have a massive mountain to climb in this Champions League semi-final second-leg on Tuesday evening . Barcelona couldn’t find a way back from three goals down against Juventus in the previous round and we believe that Monaco will have similar problems in clawing their way back from two-down this week.
The ‘Old Lady’ failed to clinch the Serie A title at the weekend thanks to a 1-1 draw against Torino, however with a seven-point lead at the top of the table and just three games left to play, it is only a matter of time before they grab their sixth consecutive ‘Scudetto’. A double would certainly make it a memorable season for the Italian giants.
They have enjoyed an impressive run to this stage of the competition, a 3-0 aggregate win over FC Porto in the Last-16 Round being followed by another 3-0 aggregate victory, this time over Barcelona in the quarter-finals. Gonzalo Higuain banged in a brace in the semi-final first-leg in Monaco and we believe that they will finish the job on home soil on Tuesday evening.
Juventus enjoy a relatively comfortable lead in this tie and they have already proven that they know how to hold onto a lead, drawing 0-0 at the Nou Camp in the last round following a 3-0 victory in the first leg. Monaco do possess no shortage of attacking talent but Juventus are rock-solid at the back and will successfully hold out the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao.
Indeed we believe that the Italians will head into the final in style by winning on Tuesday evening. Monaco will need to push forward and get themselves back into this tie, however Juventus will punish the visitors on the break and set themselves up for what looks like a date with Real Madrid next month.
