Hamilton Academical came dangerously close to dropping out of the Scottish Premiership at the end of last season and no great things were expected from them in the new campaign. Nevertheless they have launched their new season in creditable fashion with six points collected from their opening three games thanks to back-to-back wins over Dundee and a Hibernian side which had won at Ibrox the previous weekend.
Indeed Accies' only league defeat came against an Aberdeen outfit which will once again be hopeful of finishing the season as runner-up behind likely winners Celtic and one would imagine that boss Martin Canning will be confident that his side can secure the three points when they make the short journey to Kilmarnock's Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
Killie have had a disastrous start to the season with the side yet to collect a single point. Their campaign kicked-off with a 2-1 home defeat to St Johnstone and was followed by successive defeats to Heart of Midlothian and Celtic, both at Rugby Park. They were demolished 5-0 by the Hoops in the League Cup and hardly surprisingly confidence won't be too high in the home camp heading into this match.
Given that the hosts have managed just a single goal in their opening four competitive games with ten conceded, we can't make any case whatsoever for the home side and with that in mind, we'll be going for a relatively easy win-to-nil for Hamilton Academical as they continue their impressive start to the 2017/18 season.
