Perhaps Leeds United don’t actually want to be back in the Premier League, that could explain their sudden drop in form. The Whites have collected just a single point from their last three Championship games and whilst they impressed at St James’ Park earlier this month, they didn’t win many admirers for their efforts at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers and away to Burton Albion last weekend.
The Brewers had been struggling near the relegation zone but Leeds United effectively ensured that their opponents remain in the second tier for at least another season. Indeed Burton went two goals ahead in a two-minute spell towards the end of the game at the Pirelli Stadium with the visitors managing a consolation effort just ten minutes from time. Not exactly inspiring stuff from Garry Monk’s men.
Should Leeds not fancy making the jump up to the Premier League then they are doing a good job in that regard. We believe that they will further boost their chances of avoiding promotion by grabbing for themselves a third consecutive defeat at home to Norwich City this weekend.
The Canaries are fresh from denting Brighton & Hove Albion’s Championship title hopes following a 2-0 win over the Seagulls last weekend and it wouldn’t require too much effort from the visitors in order to collect all three points against a Leeds United side which are starting to look a little uninterested. Perhaps we’re being a little harsh on Monk’s men but they were starting to look nailed-on as far as a top-six finish was concerned only a few short weeks ago although it is now hard to back Leeds United with any confidence following what has been a serious slump at an unfortunate stage in the campaign.
