Leicester City have enjoyed something of a turnaround in fortunes of late and since the sacking of Claudio Ranieri they have embarked upon a three-game winning run in the Premier League. The Foxes stunned Liverpool with a 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium last month and followed that with Premier League victories over Hull City and West Ham United. Even more surprisingly perhaps, they now find themselves in the last eight of the Champions League, no mean achievement for a side which looked like relegation candidates a few short weeks ago.
The Foxes remain in the lower reaches of the Premier League as things stand but it has certainly been a memorable season as regards their European campaign and with Manchester City and Arsenal both crashing out of the tournament at the last sixteen stage, Leicester ensured English participation by clawing their way back from a goal down to beat a Sevilla outfit which have won the last three Europa League competitions.
Their reward is a tasty tie with Atletico Madrid and with the Spanish side reaching the finals in two of the last three seasons, it wouldn’t be a massive surprise were this to be the end for Leicester City’s European adventure. Atletico are favourites to qualify for the semi-finals at odds of 2/9 although some bookies are going as low as 3/1 that the Foxes find a way into the last four.
Monaco are 5/4 underdogs in the two-legged quarter-final clash with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund while Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both odds-on to qualify from their mouthwatering clashes with Juventus and Real Madrid respectively.
Barcelona remain 11/4 favourites to win the competition following their amazing comeback from four goals down against PSG, while Bayern Munich are second at 10/3. Leicester City are firm outsiders at 33/1 to once again shock the sporting world by becoming European champions.
