Expectations were high at Manchester City following the appointment of Pep Guardiola as manager last summer, however the Citizens failed to live up to these expectations and the Spanish boss will be aiming for better things in 2017/18. The Sky Blues finished third in last season's Premier League with eight points separating them from runners-up Tottenham Hotspur and some thirteen points separating them from champions Chelsea. Nevertheless they head into 2017/18 as firm 2/1 favourites to lift the title and many believe that they will be amongst the challengers for major trophies on both the domestic front as well as in European competition.
Manchester City's pre-season campaign sees them in action in the USA with the Citizens scheduled to play three matches between 20th July and 29th July. The action kicks-off with an eagerly-awaited derby with arch-rivals Manchester United in Houston's NRG Stadium before the side head to Los Angeles where they lock horns with European champions Real Madrid. Their tour of the United States then concludes in Nashville with a clash with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
City's pre-season campaign closes with a trip to Reykjavik where they face West Ham United on 4th August before their Premier League season opens with a trip to newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion on 12th August.
