The Red Devils remain four points adrift of a Champions League berth as things stand but they strengthened their case by beating table-topping Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera helped themselves to the two goals which sunk the Blues and the bookies responded in cutting the odds on Jose Mourinho’s men making it into the top-four by the time the season ends.
This price may appeal to a few punters with Manchester United now a mere four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City but with one game in hand over their arch-rivals. Liverpool remain six points above the Red Devils following their win over West Bromwich Albion.
Tottenham Hotspur narrowed the gap on the Premier League leaders to just four points thanks to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon and Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now just 5/1 to overtake Chelsea and finish the season in pole position.
Nevertheless at just 1/7 the odds would suggest that Chelsea are still on course to be crowned Premier League champions this season although the bookmakers recognise that Spurs have now thrown the title race wide open.
