Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over table-topping Chelsea was by far their most impressive result of the season so far and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic rested for that clash, it was youngster Marcus Rashford who was the star of the show as he contributed to the scoreline and help United wrap up the three points.
They still have a mountain to climb in order to make it into the top-four in the Premier League, however it could be that the Europa League could provide the easiest route to Champions League football next season and they are now just one game away from a place in the last four of Europe’s second-tier competition.
They still have much work to do though following a somewhat disappointing draw in the first leg of this two-legged affair against Anderlecht. Henrik Mkhitaryan opened the scoring in Belgium last week but the hosts responded four minutes from the end with Leander Dendoncker heading home the equaliser.
The Red Devils were far more clinical against Chelsea last weekend and the fans will be hopeful that they will produce a similar display at Old Trafford tonight. The bookmakers believe that a home win is something akin to a banker with most firms going just 1/4 on a United victory. Mourinho’s men have won all of their five Europa League home games this season with just a single goal conceded, therefore we see no reason to believe that they will concede against Anderlecht this evening.
We’ll also be looking to Ibrahimovic to provide something special for the home side. The Swede played no part in the win over Chelsea and as such he will be fresh for tonight’s clash. He will almost certainly make the starting line-up at Old Trafford and we’ll be backing him to find the net for the third time in five appearances.
