Motherwell have been in the Scottish top-flight for over thirty years no although they are now looking in serious danger of dropping down into the second-tier following what has been an utterly disappointing campaign for the Steelmen. They currently sit second-bottom of the Premiership table with just 32 points to their name although with things pretty tight towards the bottom of the league table, they could do themselves no end of favours by collecting all three points when Ross County head to Fir Park on Saturday afternoon.
Steve Robinson’s men went down to a 3-2 home defeat to Dundee last weekend and this will doubtless have dented confidence somewhat, however the Steelmen desperately need to bounce back from disappointment should they wish to remain in the top-flight for at least another season.
Visitors Ross County enjoy a slightly healthier position in that they sit four points above the immediate danger zone although with four games left to play, there is clearly no room for complacency whatsoever. The Highland outfit have been very much a mixed bag this season and this is clearly reflected in their relatively lowly league position, however they will doubtless have been boosted by their 4-0 thrashing of local rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their last outing and we’ll be backing them to make it two on the bounce this weekend.
Indeed Ross County head into this clash on the back of a four-match unbeaten run which included a 2-2 draw against runaway champions Celtic although with home side Motherwell finding the net in all-but-two of their last six outings and the visitors keeping just a single clean-sheet in seven Premiership games, we’ll also be backing both sides to get themselves onto the scoresheet at Fir Park.
