The Magpies and the Seagulls are neck-and-neck as we head rapidly towards the business end of the season and with just one point separating the two sides at the top of the Championship, any slip-ups could spell disaster as far as their respective title ambitions are concerned.
Rafael Benitez’ men face what should be a relatively easy ride this weekend when they welcome to St James’ Park a Bristol City side which are struggling dangerously close to the relegation zone. The Robins sit just one position and two points above the bottom three in the Championship table and with just a solitary point collected from their last three games, we’re finding it hard to make a case for an away win in the north-east on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, Lee Johnson’s side have managed just one victory from their last thirteen Championship outings and just a single win on the road since the start of the season. This doesn’t bode too well ahead of a journey to the league leaders and we’re anticipating an emphatic victory for the home side this weekend. Nevertheless the Robins have been having little difficulty in front of goal and should contribute to the scoring at St James’ Park. Johnson’s men have failed to score in just one of their last five outings and banged in three against Derby County earlier this month. Newcastle United, for their part, conceded twice against both QPR and Norwich City earlier this month and whilst we’ll be going for a home win this weekend, we’ll also be expecting the visitors to at the very least manage a consolation goal at some point.
