Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds

Crystal Palace continue to hunt for a new football manager, with the Eagles taking their time before appointing a successor to Roy Hodgson. We’re now approaching the month of July and Steve Cooper is the marginal betting favourite to get the job, although the betting market remains wide open and we've also seen money for Patrick Vieira in the past few days.

Patrick Vieira Now a Palace Manager Betting Favourite

Crystal Palace continue to peruse their options when it comes to replacing Roy Hodgson and it's something of a surprise to see Patrick Vieira being backed in to take charge of the Eagles, with the Frenchman currently working for ITV when it comes to Euro 2020 although the Arsenal legend has potentially thrown his hat into the ring for this role.

Vieira is clearly a Premier League playing legend although he has a modest amount of managerial experience, with the 45-year-old having taken charge of New York City FC before going on to manage a young Nice team who took charge between 2018-2020.

Lucien Favre Drifts for Palace Job

Just when it appeared that Crystal Palace had found their new manager, Lucien Favre has reportedly declined the chance to manager the south London club, with the Frenchman deciding that he wanted a longer break before returning to work and that throws the next Eagles manager betting market wide open.

Favre did relatively well with Borussia Dortmund considering there were 67 wins, 17 draws and 23 losses, with the team winning the Super Cup in 2019, while they went unbeaten in fifteen consecutive matches during his debut season, with Palace potentially alerted to someone with a wealth of experience.

Favre was recently in charge at Borussia Monchengladbach and was manager for nearly 200 games, while he also had a spell at Ligue 1 club Nice and it's hardly a surprise that a manager of his calibre was considered for this role.

Steve Cooper Still in Running for Palace Job

There have been several occasions where a manager who has done well in the Championship gets the chance to make the step up in the Premier League and that’s probably why Steve Cooper is a frontrunner in the next Crystal Palace manager betting market, with the current Swansea City manager having twice delivered the team into the play-offs.

Perhaps Cooper will remain with the Swans despite failing to get them up through the play-offs, although the Welshman is highly ambitious and has already been part of the England national team set-up, while he was part of the youth team coaching staff at Liverpool FC, so it’s realistic to assume that he might want to get the gig where this is concerned.

Cooper has now shortened to replace Roy Hodgson following news that Nuno Espirito Santo will no longer be in the running to take charge at Palace, with the London club looking to appoint someone as quickly as possible in a bid to prepare for the new campaign.

Will Eddie Howe Take Charge of The Eagles?

Eddie Howe had long been the betting favourite to take charge at Celtic FC but the Bournemouth manager failed to agree terms with the Glasgow outfit and it's possible the decision by Roy Hodgson to step down at Selhurst Park turned his head in this regard.

Howe is someone who has previously delivered success to AFC Bournemouth in previous seasons, guiding the Cherries into the top flight after taking charge when they were a League One outfit, with the manager now out of work for around twelve months and probably chomping at the bit to get back into the big time.

Opportunities to manage Premier League football clubs don’t come around very often and Palace might be a better fit than Celtic, especially if Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha are prepared to remain at the club and spearhead the team next term.

Will Lampard Be The Next Palace Manager?

Frank Lampard was the early betting favourite with the bookies to take charge at Selhurst Park and perhaps he would be someone who could leverage his links with Chelsea Football Club and get some of the young players from that club over to Palace on loan should he be given the job.

The first question is whether Palace would be prepared to take a punt on someone with a modest amount of experience, with Lampard taking charge of Derby County for one full season where he directed them to the Championship play-off final before taking charge at Chelsea FC and lasting around eighteen months.

Lampard would also have to be interested in the vacant position and perhaps he’s still enjoying his time away from football management, with lots of years ahead of him and it’s plausible that he might now go down the media route and take the opportunity to talk about football rather than actually return to the dug-out.

Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Lampard’s representatives have been sounded out about the position, with former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill on the books at Palace, while Michy Batshuayi is another player who has links with Palace and Chelsea.

Sean Dyche Also Among Crystal Palace Betting Favourites

Dyche has now been in charge at Burnley FC since 2012 and the 49-year-old would be a suitably safe pair of hands should Crystal Palace look to approach someone who has consistently shown an ability to keep the Clarets afloat in the top flight despite the shoestring budget in place compared to the majority of top-flight clubs.

The former Chesterfield defender might think now is the right time to make a change and potentially have a bigger transfer budget in order to push on with a club like Crystal Palace, with Dyche having been in charge at Turf Moor for nearly ten years and he’s not only kept them afloat during this time but also steered them into the Europa League.

Nuno Espirito Santo No Longer Favourite for Palace Gig

Nuno Espirito Santo was the market leader to replace Roy Hodgson, with the Portuguese having recently left Wolves although talks have broken down between him and the Crystal Palace owners just as it appeared as though he was going to be announced as manager.

Nuno recently departed from Molineux after four years in charge at the Midlands club, with this proving to be highly fruitful considering he engineered an immediate promotion to the Premier League before steering Wolves to sixth and seven respectively in the following two seasons.

Palace might look at these achievements in the hope of recruiting a manager who could fire the Eagles into the top half of the table on a regular basis, although some might regard this as too much of a sideways step for Nuno.

Valerien Ismael Might Switch From Barnsley to Palace

Valerien Ismael was something of an unknown in England when arriving at Barnsley FC in 2020, although the Frenchman has made a splash at Oakwell and narrowly missed out when trying to steer the Tykes into the Premier League which would have been a remarkable achievement considering that the club were struggling against relegation previously.

Ismael’s immediate impact at the South Yorkshire club might not have gone unnoticed at Crystal Palace and the coach has previously been in charge at Wolfsburg where he was the manager between 2016-17, while Ismael was also manager of LASK in Austria and perhaps he could be right man to take the next step with Palace thanks to some progressive ideas.

Scott Parker Could Be Interested in Switching From Fulham

Scott Parker has thrust himself into the national spotlight after winning promotion to the Premier League with Fulham last term, with the former England midfielder unable to keep the Cottagers afloat in the top flight this season and perhaps he will be eyeing new opportunities.

Parker is a relatively inexperienced manager but might relish the chance to take the vacant role and therefore remain in London where he spent the majority of his playing career, with the young coach potentially excited by the chance to coach a talented squad that has strong young players coming through.
