Despite beating Bournemouth to the tune of 2-1 at the weekend, the Toffees look likely to finish the season in the bottom half of the Premier League table, their last chance of silverware ending when Anthony Martial's goal for Manchester United ended their involvement in the FA Cup at the semi-final stage.
There has followed no shortage of debate surrounding the future of under-fire manager Roberto Martinez after another trophy-less campaign and Sky Bet go 1/7 that he isn't part of the Goodison Park set-up at the start of next season.
The big question is, who would replace him in the Everton hot-seat? A recent frontrunner was Bournemouth's Eddie Howe, however the self-proclaimed Toffees fan has now pledged his immediate future to the Cherries and BetVictor now have him priced at 8/1 for the Everton job.
Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has now been installed as firm favourite to take over at Goodison Park, his odds being slashed from 40/1 to just 5/4 with Betfair. Clearly O'Neill will be focused mainly on his side's involvement in the upcoming European Championships during the summer months, however following that tournament, the bookies feel that the former Leicester manager would likely make a return to club management.
Other candidates include Southampton manager Ronald Koeman following rumours that he doesn't with to extend his contract at St Mary's. Outgoing Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini is another possibility at 11/2 with Paddy Power, the Citizens replacing him with Bayern Munich Pep Guardiola during the summer.
