Glasgow Rangers look set to be searching for a new manager very shortly, with Ally McCoist having tended his resignation as manager on Friday 12 December.
While the Rangers board might reject McCoist’s decision to step down from the Ibrox hot seat, it looks likely that a new man will take the reins and the bookies have currently narrowed it down to a quartet of prospective managers.
Terry Butcher 5/2 with BetVictor
Butcher has obvious links with Glasgow Rangers due to his playing days and he has plenty of experience managing in the Scottish Premier League, especially with Motherwell where he enjoyed a four year spell.
Stuart McCall 11/4 with Paddy Power
McCall recently stepped down at Motherwell, having previously done well with the Scottish club last season and this is another Gers legend who is an obvious fit for a team looking to make it back to the Scottish Premier League next season.
Billy Davies 5/1 with BetVictor
Davies has a pretty decent track record as a football manager, although the firebrand Scot has been out of work since stepping down at Nottingham Forest earlier this year.
He was also in charge at Motherwell between 1998-2001 and subsequently enjoyed stints with Preston North End and Derby County, the latter of whom he took into the Premier League
Dennis Wise 12/1 with William Hill
Wise has close connections with Mike Ashley and the former Leeds boss could be identified as someone to take charge of a troubled club. The ex-Chelsea man has previously had experience in charge of Millwall, Southampton and Swindon Town but only for short spells.
