Nottingham Forest are undoubtedly a pretty big club and it is hard to believe that it is eighteen years since they graced the Premier League. Nevertheless, despite securing a much-needed win at the weekend they remain dangerously close to the Championship relegation zone and will be desperate to make it two on the bounce by collecting the three points tonight.
Forest sit just six points above the bottom three as things stand and they could easily become embroiled in a relegation battle given their recent form. Their weekend victory ended a dismal run of form which saw them lose three and draw one of their previous four Championship outings. They will certainly have their work cut-out when they welcome to the City Ground a Brentford side which have been pretty impressive of late.
The Bees head into this match on the back of a decent run which has seen them drop just two points in their last three outings. Recent back-to-back wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United have lifted Dean Smith’s men into a relatively comfortable mid-table position and whilst they are realistically unlikely to make a late charge towards the play-off places, they should move closer to the top half of the Championship table by bringing Forest back to earth with a bump tonight.
The home side will be in high spirits following their emphatic win over high-flying Brighton at the weekend but looking at their recent form we expect that this was just a blip and that normal service will be resumed this evening. Brentford have been grinding out some excellent victories of late and we believe that they will bag another in the East Midlands tonight.
