Super Sunday looks set to live up to its billing as two eagerly awaited derby matches get underway. First of all we have the little matter of Southampton v Arsenal at lunchtime on Sunday and following their huge win over BATE Borisov in a meaningless Europa League outing on Thursday evening, the Gunners will be looking to put in another impressive display on the south coast as they look to bounce back from their Premier League defeat to Manchester United last weekend.
The action then moves to Merseyside where Liverpool and Everton lock horns in what could prove to be a relatively closely-fought affair. The Toffees have been struggling this season although they have won their last three competitive matches in convincing fashion with nine goals and none conceded. Can they give the Reds a shock by grabbing maximum points at Anfield this weekend?
The red-hot action continues into Sunday evening with the Manchester derby. This is a massive game for both sides. A win for United would see them narrow the gap between themselves and arch-rivals Manchester City to five points, however victory for the Citizens would all-but-gift them the Premier League title at this early stage of the campaign. Given that the combined value of these two squads is over £1 Billion, we expect to see an utterly entertaining encounter at Old Trafford. It could be the complete opposite however and with much at stake, we may well see both managers take a cautious approach.
Who will be the Sunday afternoon winners and losers? This is what we think…
