Queen of the South were amongst the early frontrunners in the fight for the Championship title and they actually topped the table for a short time, however some disappointing results have sent them down the table and they now sit eleven points below the play-off places with just six games left to play.
Clearly a place in the top four is going to elude the Doonhamers this season although they won’t be giving in without a fight. Dundee United are the visitors to Palmerston Park on Saturday afternoon and Queen of the South will be looking to make life difficult for the visitors.
The Tangerines had hopes of bouncing straight back up to the Scottish Premiership at the first time of asking and while they are still in with a shout of achieving this aim, they will need to do it via the play-offs. Hibernian have things sewn up at the top of the Championship table with a ten point lead over the chasing pack and Dundee United will head into the play-offs alongside Falkirk and Greenock Morton.
Just two points separate the three play-off sides at the moment and whilst Hibs are unlikely to be caught before the end of the season, Dundee United can surge into second place by collecting all three points at Palmerston Park. With the hosts winless in their last five Championship outings, we fancy their chances.
