There is an oft-quoted fact bandied about in Dumfries concerning Queen of the South being the only team mentioned in the bible. If so, then divine intervention has done nothing to help the Doonhamers – as they are affectionately known – from making into the Scottish Premiership. Indeed over the last few years the Dumfries outfit have flirted with the possibility of climbing into the top-tier but any ambitions have failed thus far.
As things stand, it is starting to look unlikely that Queen of the South will be threatening the play-offs given that eight points separate them from fourth-placed Greenock Morton, although it must be said that Queens appear to have awoken from their mid-season slumber and have actually started to get some decent results on the board.
The Doonhamers have won their last two Championship outings and this has helped them to open up a seven-point gap between themselves and the bottom half of the league table. Whilst much work still needs to be done should the side wish to climb into the play-offs, given recent performances they certainly have the time to do just that.
They can move towards that goal on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Falkirk to their antiquated Palmerston Park ground. The visiting Bairns have also been putting in some good performances of late, however they have been less impressive away from home and we feel that a resurgent Queens will have little difficulty in sending them packing with nothing for their troubles on Saturday afternoon.
