It’s fair to say that the mood around Ibrox has been lifted somewhat following what has been an excellent month. Graeme Murty, in his capacity as caretaker boss – led the Light Blues to victories over St Johnstone and Hamilton Academical as well as a creditable 1-1 draw with Celtic at Parkhead. Pedro Caixinha’s arrival as manager was marked with an emphatic 4-0 win over Hamilton Academical two weeks ago and whilst the Accies may not be the strongest opposition, it was nevertheless a hugely impressive performance from the Glasgow side.
The Rangers players will be looking to impress their new boss and as such we expect to witness another positive performance at Ibrox this weekend. The Light Blues may be eight points adrift of second placed Aberdeen as things stand but they will nevertheless be confident of closing the gap should the Dons slip up in the coming weeks.
For their part, Saturday’s visitors Motherwell have been struggling near the foot of the Scottish Premiership for much of the campaign. Just three points separate the Steelmen from the bottom two and we don’t envisage their situation improving this weekend. The visitors have lost all-but-one of their last seven league outings with their standout defeat being a 7-2 thrashing to Aberdeen last month. Their last seven games have seen them concede no less than twenty goals and as such we’ll be backing Rangers to beat Motherwell by at least three clear goals at Ibrox this weekend.
