Rangers have given up the ghost as far as finishing in the top-two is concerned – or so it wouldd appear. The Gers were thrashed 4-1 by Heart of Midlothian at the start of February and they could only manage a point from their meeting with Ross County before succumbing to subsequent defeats at Dundee and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Can the Glasgow side bounce back from these poor results by winning at Ibrox on Wednesday evening? We believe so. Rangers may have stumbled in their quest to keep apace with Aberdeen in the race for ‘best of the rest’, however they have been pretty solid on home soil with just one defeat at Ibrox since the start of the season, this coming against Celtic on New Years’ Eve. Their recent defeats have all been on the road and we believe that they will give their long-suffering fans something to cheer about at Ibrox in this midweek Premiership clash.
As for St Johnstone, they have been something of a mixed bag although they sit comfortably in the top half of the league table. Inconsistency has certainly played its part and Tommy Wright’s men followed up a fine 2-1 win at Ross County with a thoroughly disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed the Saints have been pretty solid on the road this season, however we believe that they will become unstuck when they travel to Ibrox on Wednesday and whilst they have had few problems in front of goal, any consolation effort will almost certainly be part of a Rangers victory as the Light Blues look to close the gap on second-placed Aberdeen.
