Hibernian enjoyed a remarkable campaign in 2016/17 which saw them finish the season as runaway Championship winners and secure for themselves a place in the Scottish Premiership, however their first meeting with top-flight opposition will take place on Friday evening when they make the long journey to Dingwall for a Scottish League Cup clash with Ross County.
Both Hibernian and Ross County got off to great starts in this competition with the Hibees enjoying a 4-0 win over Montrose and the Highlanders going even better by thrashing the same side to the tune of 6-0 just three days later following an opening-day 2-0 win over Alloa Athletic.
As such we can expect a thrilling goal-laden affair at Victoria Park, Dingwall on Friday evening and a large travelling support will make the journey from the capital, confident of their side's chances of success.
For their part, Ross County finished 2016/17 in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table following the league split, however they finished top of that particular pile following some decent late results and will be confident of showing improvement in the upcoming campaign. A third consecutive win in this tournament would go a huge way towards boosting confidence in the ranks although Hibs will also be in high spirits following their promotion back to the top-flight and whilst we envisage plenty of goals along the way, we feel that a share of the spoils will be the most likely outcome after ninety minutes.
Our tip: Back draw and over 3.5 goals (odds not yet released at time of writing)
