Celtic have enjoyed much of their recent success in the Scottish Cup and the bookies fancy their chances of lifting the trophy for an amazing 38th time in 2017/18, hardly a surprise really given that they didn't fall to a single defeat in their entire domestic 2016/17 campaign.
The Hoops failed to make too much of an impact on the tournament between 2013 and 2016 with no final wins during that time, however the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as manager last summer was the catalyst which provided much improvement within the side and whilst this hasn't resulted in much-needed success in European competition as yet, it has further consolidated their position at the top of the Scottish game.
Rodgers' men ended their Scottish Cup drought by beating Aberdeen to the tune of 2-1 in last season's final at Hampden Park and the bookmakers feel that they can repeat that success in 2017/18, however whilst the Hoops are best odds of 5/4 to lift the trophy next season, arch-rivals Rangers will be having other ideas. The Light Blues have already been dumped out of European competition by minnows Progres Niedercorn and the pressure will be on manager Pedro Caixinha as the new domestic campaign fast approaches, however whether they can narrow the gap between themselves and Old Firm rivals Celtic remains to be seen. Indeed the Scottish Cup is perhaps their best chance of silverware and the bookies go 6/1 that they will end their trophy drought in this competition.
Aberdeen were beaten finalists in both cup competitions last season and they will be looking to go one better in next season's Scottish Cup. Nevertheless they have lost a number of key players during the summer and for this very reason they sit third in the outright Scottish Cup betting at 8/1.
The only other side shorter than 20/1 is Heart of Midlothian at 16s with city rivals and 2015/16 winners Hibernian not too far behind at 20/1.
