Scunthorpe United are one of those ‘see-saw’ clubs which regularly appear either in the relegation zone or amongst the promotion contenders come the business end of the season and their current campaign promises to be no different. The Iron are firmly ensconced in the top-six in League One and barring a major upset they look set to feature in the play-offs in a few weeks time.
Their season to date makes decent reading although they have been something of a mixed bag of late. Graham Alexander’s men have lost four of their last six League One outings although they have bounced back with successive wins in their last two games. Such inconsistent form makes us extremely wary of backing the Iron against high-flying Bradford City, especially so since the Bantams have been enjoying some excellent recent form.
The West Yorkshire side head into this weekend’s clash at Glanford Park on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run during which they have returned an impressive four wins and with just a single defeat in their last six games on the road, we’re of the opinion that Saturday’s visitors will put a dent in Scunthorpe’s promotion ambitions by returning home with all three points in the bag.
Nevertheless neither team are slouches in front of goal and we expect both nets to be bulging on Saturday afternoon, therefore our recommendation on the betting markets is to back a Bradford City win and both teams to score at a pretty generous 5/1.
