Sheffield United are showing real signs of a club with big ambitions this season. The Blades ran away with the League One title in 2016/17 and they are enjoying a fine old time of things in the Championship with an excellent start to the campaign lifting them up to third position as things stand. They have suffered a couple of slip-ups along the way and head into this match on the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest before the international break, however the fact remains that Chris Wilder’s men are looking every bit play-off material at the very least.
They have a chance to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon when they welcome to Bramall Lane an Ipswich Town side which have been rather hit and miss in recent weeks. The Tractor Boys have lost five of their last seven outings with their two wins coming against strugglers Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland, not the sort of form one wants when facing high-flying Sheffield United. Indeed their last away win was in mid-August against a Millwall outfit which were only just starting to find their feet in the Championship and we see little evidence to suggest that they will be heading home with anything for their troubles this weekend.
That said, Mick McCarthy’s men have at least managed to find the net in each of their last five games and they should add to the tally at Bramall Lane this weekend, however they will surely be outgunned by a Blades side which will be desperate to return to winning ways and there is value to be had in a United win and both teams to score with the bookmakers going 3/1 on such an outcome.
