David Moyes’ Sunderland once again find themselves propping up the table thanks to a three-match losing run which culminated in a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City earlier this month, therefore they will be desperate to put this dismal run to an end when they take to the pitch this weekend.
The good news for Sunderland is that the visitors on Saturday afternoon are Burnley, the Clarets having one of the worst away records in any of the top four English divisions. Indeed Sean Dyche’s men have yet to win on the road this season, one of only two Premier League sides with such a poor record and with just two points from a possible forty-two away from the Stadium of Light we’re not exactly expecting fireworks on Wearside this weekend.
That said, Sunderland’s form at home is far from inspiring and whilst this is clearly match in which they have a great chance of collecting all three points, it is extremely hard to back the home side with any degree of confidence. Indeed it is hard to make a case for either side on Saturday afternoon although Burnley have at least been managing a few goals away from Turf Moor of late. The Clarets put two past Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium earlier this month and opened the scoring at Anfield last weekend, therefore we’ll be siding with the visitors to secure the three points this weekend.
